Shield Certificates vs. OSHA.com: Is OSHA.com Actually OSHA?

OSHA.com is a private training company, not the agency. How its forklift and HazCom courses compare with Shield Certificates on price, time, language, the practical evaluation and crew purchasing.

OSHA.com is not the Occupational Safety and Health Administration. It is a private training company; its own footer says it is “in no way affiliated with the OSHA website,” and its Outreach courses are supplied by 360training. That matters because many buyers choose it believing it is the government’s course. This page compares OSHA.com’s forklift and HazCom courses with Shield Certificates on price, time, language, the practical evaluation and crew purchasing, using each site’s published figures on October 22, 2026.

Where OSHA.com Is the Better Choice

HazCom price, once Shield’s sale ends: $20 versus $29. If you need an OSHA 10- or 30-hour Outreach card, OSHA.com sells them (through 360training) and Shield does not. The domain name carries weight with people who do not look further, which can matter if the certificate is going to a client who will not read the fine print.

Where Shield Certificates Is the Better Choice

Forklift price: $59 versus $79. Both languages in one purchase. The practical evaluation is handled rather than ignored: OSHA.com describes its forklift course as 100% online, which is true of the instruction but leaves the required hands-on evaluation unmentioned. And for a supervisor buying for several people, Shield’s dashboard shows who has finished and holds the records an inspector asks for.

What “100% Online” Can and Cannot Mean

Under 29 CFR 1910.178(l), no forklift operator is certified by an online course alone. The employer must also provide practical training and evaluate the operator on the equipment in the workplace. Any provider, Shield included, sells only the formal instruction. The difference is whether the course tells you that and gives you the paperwork for the rest. Shield’s checklist does; OSHA.com’s course page does not say.

On the Name

Calling a private company OSHA.com is legal and the company discloses it. But if a worker tells a new employer “I got my OSHA certification from OSHA.com,” the employer may reasonably assume something that is not so. Shield’s certificates say Shield Certificates and cite the standard the course was written to. Neither is an OSHA certification, because OSHA does not issue one for forklift or HazCom.

Verdict

HazCom for one person at the lowest price: OSHA.com at $20, as long as you understand who you are buying from. Forklift, Spanish-speaking crews, or any order where you need to show an inspector who was trained and evaluated: Shield Certificates.
