Online HazCom training costs $20 to $40 per employee at the major providers: OSHA.com $20.00, Shield Certificates $24 until November 20, 2026 and $29 after, 360training $39.99, Hard Hat Training $39.99. A classroom session from a safety consultant is typically priced per visit, often a few hundred dollars for a small group. OSHA sets no price and charges no fee; 29 CFR 1910.1200(h) requires the training, not any particular provider. Prices are from each site on October 25, 2026.

Classroom and Consultant Pricing
An on-site session is priced for the visit rather than per head, so it gets cheaper per person as the group grows and more expensive if people miss it and need a make-up. For a crew under about 15, online seats are almost always cheaper; above that, ask a local consultant for a quote and compare it with ten-seat online pricing. Classroom training has one real advantage: the site-specific part is covered in the same session.
The Cost No Provider Charges For
Ten minutes per employee of your own time. 1910.1200(h)(2) requires employees to be told where your written program and Safety Data Sheets are kept and how your workplace labels work. No online course knows that. Walk each person to the SDS binder or kiosk, show them a label from your shelf, name the person to call about a spill, and write the date down.
How Often You Pay
HazCom training is required at initial assignment and whenever a new hazard is introduced into the work area; there is no annual-retraining rule. Budget for new hires and for the November 20, 2026 update deadline, when employers must retrain on any hazards that changed under the 2024 GHS revision.
